Product Handling & Storage
Guidance for storing, handling, and preparing Polaris Research products for laboratory research use.
Last Updated 24 June 2026
1. On arrival
Your order arrives securely packaged. Lyophilised (freeze-dried) vials should be refrigerated at 2–8°C upon receipt and kept sealed until you are ready to prepare them for your research application.
Inspect the vial label for the product name, batch number, and expiry or retest date before opening. You can verify your batch online at our batch verification page using the batch number printed on the label.
2. Storage conditions
- Lyophilised vials: store at 2–8°C, protected from light. Do not freeze lyophilised material unless the product-specific COA advises otherwise.
- Reconstituted solutions: once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water or an appropriate research solvent, aliquot and store at −20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles, which degrade peptide integrity.
- Reconstitution solvents: use bacteriostatic water or a solvent appropriate to your research protocol. Store reconstitution solvents according to their own product labelling.
3. Handling precautions
These products are supplied for laboratory research use. Handle them in accordance with your institution’s laboratory safety procedures, including:
- Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection, lab coat).
- Working in a clean, controlled environment.
- Avoiding direct skin contact, inhalation, or ingestion.
- Using calibrated equipment for reconstitution and aliquoting.
- Disposing of used vials and solutions according to local laboratory waste guidelines.
4. Reconstitution for research use
To reconstitute a lyophilised vial for laboratory research:
- Allow the sealed vial to reach room temperature before opening.
- Add the reconstitution solvent slowly against the vial wall — do not force it directly onto the lyophilised pellet.
- Swirl gently to dissolve. Do not shake — shaking can denature peptide bonds.
- Once dissolved, aliquot into appropriate volumes to avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
We do not provide protocol-specific volumes, concentrations, or research methodology advice. Consult published literature or your institution’s research guidelines.
5. Stability and expiry
Each vial is labelled with an expiry or retest date. Lyophilised peptides are generally stable for the labelled period when stored at 2–8°C. Reconstituted solutions have a shorter stability window — refer to published literature for your specific compound and storage conditions.
Products past their expiry or retest date should not be used. Polaris Research is not liable for results obtained from improperly stored or expired material.
6. Not for human or animal use
These products are not for human or animal consumption, injection, or therapeutic use. They are not sterile unless stated on the COA and are not intended for administration to living organisms. See our Research-Use Policy for the full scope of permitted and prohibited uses.
